Performance Art Exploration and Documentation

For helping us find more inspirations for the time project, we did few performance art tasks at the class: Rice Walking, I Give You This Lemon, Tooth Brush Humming and Reading Circle. Performance art is a big challenge to artists especially if we perform in the public. You have to so concentrate and have enough confidence. I did enjoyed the tasks. I feel like I do have a talent to perform because I don't feel awkward or interrupted easily by other people's laughing or moving. I can get into my own character straight away. That gives me an plan, my own performance plan.

Also there's an artist's street performance art popped up in my head and inspired me which the man who sale snow balls.

I love David's idea, he used an interesting way that means to sarcasm and criticize racial discrimination and social class discrimination. The funny thing is in the end, all the snow balls were sold out. So I thought how if I could use a similar way to discuss about time on the road as well. Use some physical to represent something inaccessible which is time.

Can time be collect, share and waste just like physical items? I think it can be, and I think everyone does it. I choose the first perform plan and did it because I don't think I am ready to chat with random people yet.

The clock pieces, the sign and myself as parts of the perform mean to attract people who walking by. I see myself as a time collector and anyone stopped front of me, I have collect their time already.

One old lady had a short chat with the people who helped me recording this, she said" I can't fix her time, when number is up, it's up." That's deep and wisdom, what she said helps us to understand time more. It's a great experience as my first perform and also in the public.

I edited a video as a document for the perform as well.

I found a tick- tock background sound to match up the topic and speeded the video up to give a pressure to the audiences. Time is unfixable, so there's no need to waste longer on my video.
