As we know, we need to set up our exhibition at Newstead Abbey on next Thursday, so this week we been told to keep developing and exploring more things, such as wood board cutting, plaster and Lino print.
Plaster And Ceramic Making
Plaster making is a very useful way for mould making. It could perfectly transfer the textures. I also keep the clay piece, so we could make a collection of ceramic tiles.
Once I got chance I also made the small flower pottery I designed last week.
The process was a little bit tricky though, I had to use hair dryer to dry the clay first then I could form them as what I want. Hope I could glaze it on Monday.
There is something else quite interesting. When the plaster almost dry up we could use it as material for sculpture making. However you have to be quick otherwise it won't hold together. As you can see up there, I did a little one and carved it a bit.
Lino Print
Original design and complete the plate. I feel the negative space could be too much and there also needs more lace elements. So I used the same way last week I did for the spray paint and create few backgrounds for the lino print.
Then print on them.
Also did some repeat patterns.
Then I tried to make them digital.
Advertising design and wallpaper design.
I also suggested that all of us from our group we could make a joint print work on one big paper, that could be a one work actually we work and design together as a whole.
3D Workshop
Since I had the experience with using bandsaw from last year, I feel more confidence to use the machines. By the end we will hang them together, can't wait to see how it looks.
Second Stitching Piece
Been visited few local galleries to get some inspiration. When I saw the texture on this oil painting, I thought about lace immediately. It gave me a inspiration that I could use lace as a layer on the stitching. Then I completed my second piece.
All of these are what I did for this week. I think for next week I probably will more focus on how we should display for the show.
