This week we had Suzanne Golden coming to give us the talk about professional practice who has extensive experiences of curator and an artist by herself at the same time. During the talk, I am not only seeing more choices of my future, but also inspired by her art works.
For Suzanne's life experience of her life in her early 20s, she spent around six months to travel the whole world from Europe to Asia to reach all the different kinds of arts from different cultures. I think her travelling experience is opening her eyes more, also improved her sensitive of art and it's the foundation for her to become a successful curator.

(Chinese Traditional Paper Cutting Art)
Now she as a local curator in Nottingham and organize different art exhibitions to support local artists. I am so glad to know there is a person like her around us and welling to help us especially who worked in London at the top level art auction house before. We should keep working and posting our works, I do believe eventually people like Suzanne will see our works and we may have a chance to exhibit our works in her gallery, who know? Just needs to keeping creating.

For Suzanne's art works, I do like her paper cut images a lot. They reminds me the Chinese traditional paper cut art. Especially the red colour, it reminds me Chinese paper cutting immediately. The importance of Chinese paper cutting is about symmetry, every pattern been cut out is symmetry. The part which Suzanne's works attracted me is she created not only symmetry images, but also un- symmetry images, she also cuts some of the parts of the images out and play the shadows about them. When 2D paper been cut out into shapes and rearrange them, it's kind of changing to 3D. Her paper cutting art works are definitely combine traditional and contemporary. I would like to know the process about how she actual made them.

Suzanne is good at textile art making. After her explained the inspiration of the works I feel more connection with her works. So she has eczema during her whole life, as we all know eczema is not easy to heal and a very annoying skin disease. It makes your skin itch and it always comes back, you even don't why. I know the feeling because my son got this disease as well. So when I see the different pink strings she used to weaving the different part of the face's skin, I can feel her pain. The itchy, the anger and the desire of scratching. I feel there is a international group about eczema, this image could be the logo of it!
Overall, I think Suzanne is a smart and brave artist and curator. She never afraid of moving to new places to live, she never stopped her own creating, by the same time she keeps exploring opportunities to start artists!
