Evidences and Actions about My Understanding of Art Industry

As the first year of practice fine art, we need to understand more about how to transfer our art works and skills in to money. The guests artists talking sessions helped a lot, some of them are famous, some of them are still doing well by gallery curator, some of them are having a side job to support their arts, also some of them are not doing art anymore. I guess it's all depends on your life situation. Thus, I would like to use this blog to show you my understanding of art industry and what I have done so far.

Mall Galleries London

Art works are displaying in the gallery for exhibiting and sale. There are also opportunities that artists could join the competitions.

However, the submission fee are quite high for me. So as a student and a single mom without job, at the moment, I actually do not considering anything about commercial galleries. I will keep eye on it though.

Local commercial gallery

Also, even now I could join or buy anything from the commercial gallery, I still would like to walk around at the local ones, to see what's on there and maybe give me some inspirations.

Art Fairs

Same, because my situation when I look for events which I could join, I also prefer local evens.

I do interested about few of local un- commercial galleries as well.

Surface gallery, friendly to new start artist and art students. I did join one of its competitions and applying the volunteer jobs. It all could help me to step into the door of the art industry by knowing more artist and curators. Also during the interview I know they rent some studio space to artists by £70 a month, it's a useful information to know.

This the two works I sent, I didn't get anything, however, it's worth to try. And they will have a show for volunteers, I should have a opportunity to exhibit something there.

New Art Exchange is another great gallery to send work to.

I failed the last one, well, never let the fail stopping you create more works.

Not only opportunities at galleries, but also at schools and design company, depends on what are you good at, skills supporting or ideas giving. Some specific qualifications requires as well.

As a new started artist, showing our works on the internet is vital.

( CV shows on other two blogs)

I would like to show you my website pages here.

Blog

IG

Chinese app/ XiaoHongShu

I post all my works and a bit my daily life, I would like the audiences can see my real side a bit to help them to understand my works more. I don't have much followers for now, maybe one day, who knows.

For my experiences, I do feel we need use the internet to show our works. After Damien Hirst posted my works on the Chinese app, he posted my works again on his IG. It's not a big thing, however, people who sees this post will know me, he has almost a million followers which is a lot.

Working as an artist we need to know how to protect our works and use our rights which means we need to aware some legal information.

Such as, protect our original ideas, do not copy others either. ( Intellectual Property)

Pay some money back while you sold your art works.( Self employment and Tax, National Insurance)

Do not let people damage your works, do not let your works hurt people either.( Public Liability, Consumer Protection)
