Luckily I joined anther talk about opportunities for new artists by the manager of No jobs in the arts- Ryan Boultbee that means to give us suggestions and advices how to pick good opportunities and avoid bad ones. And by which way? I guess I just need to keep tracking the website and pay attention to every update then find the right events to join.
As you know the talk is for the last year students, I am just on my first year. However, I do feel that's never to early to get your feet out of the door to find opportunities.
For my own situations, I am a single mom and full time education at college as well, my time is really tight to get a job position, but after the chat with Ryan, I decide whatever it's, I need to let myself out, at least get some experiences out of the school. Thus I did the volunteering application to The surface gallery immediately! Why the surface gallery? Well, I joined a competition there couple of months ago, and yes I failed. However, I had touched with the people who work there and I know the environment there. I also know the surface gallery is a place that very friendly to new artists and art students. As you can see the forms that I filled above. Hope I could get response soon and spend summer holiday there to get some experiences, if not, doesn't matter, I will keep looking!
