By the glass print experiment I did that I figured it out the letters were transferred better than the image, so I decide to make one piece of glass only with the sentence. Also, by the previous experiment I know the background glass needs to be have colour so the result will show a better contrast. There are not much glass I could choose in the studio though, so as you can see I got a piece of blue glass and I choose the orange powder to print on. The letters been transferred very well.
After fired it, the power fully melted. However, the orange colour glass powder doesn't show orange, it shows a dark brown effect. Seeing the result, even it's not orange, the contrast still there, so I am fine with it.
Then I been thinking how to frame it.
Then I thought to glue it on this piece of shinny, strong plastic material. It does look great at the moment.
While I glued it on, I recognised because of the heat that the glass isn't flat anymore, so I tried to give it a bit pressure on the black background to make sure it will fully stick on. Then I did it too hard so I damaged the glass. You could see it from the video.
My tutor helped me to take it out by no more damaging. However, the black plastic had too many mark on it and couldn't use it anymore. So I went to find something else as the background.
I like this wood board. The smooth feeling from the glass and the rough texture from the wood board, that makes the sentence stand out.
The shame is I can't lie to myself that isn't a gap in my glass. I don't think I will use it for the exhibition. It upsets me thought.
From this listen that I learn, during the process we create things, the material has to be take care of thoroughly, otherwise bad things gonna happen as what I did. If I have one more week I would like to buy more glass and re- do it.
