Title/ Starting point/ Concept
Final project for out first year, I would like to use my own life experience to create a series of works.
As a female, I do believe most of us have less confidence for our bodies and sometimes even feels ashamed about our bodies. I was one of them as well. There's the thing really happened on me in my early 20s. My dad was touching my breast and judged my body was ugly and said that I need to do plastic surgery to get bigger boobies. So this experience has been effect my whole life until recent years. I have a tiny body which is normal for an Asian female and I wasn't confidence about it especially after what my dad did to me. But why female's body been judged by male and why we just take the judgement and lose our confidence? Our bodies belong to ourselves. We are not living on this earth for man! Thus, I would like to use my own experience as the starting point for this project and talking about confidence destroy, self appreciation, female bodies nature beauty, accept we are as who we are.
During the project I will do several relevant artists research and try to get inspiration about how they delivery the female power and emotions.
There are few of new skills I plan to try for the process, such as body casting, glass making, leather sculpting. Also continuing the exploration about print such as emulsion print.
For the final outcomes, I think will be same as all the other projects, 2d and 3D works both. Could be sculptures, images, different materials or scales.
The evaluation will be during all the project by taking part in peer reviews, tutorials. I will also constantly question and document my idea development, thought, creative and decision-making processes by writing my blogs. This will culminate in a written final evaluation of the project.
