Finding Inspirations and Take More Photograph

Yang Jiang

Regarding to give my images more context and stories, I start to look at other artist's works and mean to some inspirations.

Conceptual artist working with photography

As you can see the images above, simple pose, non facial expression, however, this woman and man are both talking.

The melting mascara on her face is telling me she was crying, the shopping bag tells me that she been shopping and the office clothes makes contrast with the trainer. So maybe she was working in the office by she has to travelling to work or walking to work. The man had a t-shirt hanging in his pocket, and he wears the arm bands, so maybe he is a sportsman, and he might just hurt himself so he needs extra protect. So all of these story telling and details are what I need for my images.

So I did another series of photography taking and with different pose, things and clothes.

As you can see, I changed my hair style, I got dress, wine bottle, man tie, suit trousers, cig, messy lip makeup. I am trying to play myself. Such as a drunk night out, when I have a cig I feel I an a man and I am also a maker and sculptor. However, I don't like them! Why? I don't know! Just feels like me is acting me but the images are showing not actual me. Maybe I put too much effort in it. And the photographer is not Elli, it's another student in our class which is a man. So maybe that's the reason, A male couldn't fully understand what a female want to delivery. That's not the excuse though, might be because we didn't have a good conversation about the story line.

I haven't gave up though.

I use all the images I took so far together and print them in different colours and sizes, gathering them together to create a big collage. The result does have contrast, visual impact but mostly by colours, not by story telling. However, it worth to try, at least I know I could use this way to represent photography.

Still, mean issue haven't solved! What I should do next?
